Warrior varsity football members team members will not return to the State Championship Game for the first time in five years as they fell to the Lynx 52-13 in the 11AAA Semifinal Game Friday at Brandon Valley High School in Brandon.
In a re-match of the last year’s 11AAA Title Game, sophomore quarterback Max Thomson threw 11-of-19 for 127 yards and scored a touchdown in the game.
Sophomore Josh Piper scored the second touchdown for the Warriors and junior running back Michael Johnson led the Warriors with 80 rushing yards in the game.
Coach Chad Stadem said last week’s upset of No. 2 seeded Lincoln 21-6 helped ease the pain of a 4-7 season for the Warriors.
“I like our future,” Stadem said. “I’m proud of our seniors who have been a part of some great teams and acted with class all this season.”
Senior Ben Peterson said he was disappointed with the ending of the season and is sad to be done with high school football.
“We didn’t play our best game, which showed,” Peterson said. “Overall, the season could have gone better, but I still enjoyed playing with my teammates all season long and will miss it next year.”
