Warrior boys fall to 3-5 with two road losses
WHS falls to O’Gorman 60-43, Watertown 62-45

Warrior varsity boys basketball team members lost a pair of games on the road last week, falling at O’Gorman and at Watertown.
First, the Warriors fell to the O’Gorman Knights 60-43 on Thursday. Then, they lost 62-45 at Watertown Saturday. With the losses, the boys fell to 3-5 on the season.
In the Watertown game, senior Carter Shields led all Warrior scorers with 15 points.
With both loses the Warriors are now No. 12 by seed points in Class AA ball.
Shields said it was a tough week for the Warriors.
“The loss was tough, but we are ready to bounce back this week,” Shields said.
Senior Kellen Foltz said he is ready for practice this week.
“We have three full days to prepare (for the next game),” Foltz said. “I feel like we have a good chance to go on a very good run the next couple of weeks.”
In sub-varsity action, the JV fell to O’Gorman 59-57 and defeated Watertown 61-51. Junior Nate Gilbertson had 14 points in the win over the Arrows.
The sophomore team lost to the Knights 52-10 and the Arrows 74-64. Sophomore Tahj Two Bulls had 14 points in the Watertown game.
The freshman A Team lost to O’Gorman 60-47, but came back to defeat Watertown 65-56. Fresh-man Jackson Lechtenberg had 14 points and Tommy Peterson 12, including 6 of 7 from the free throw line. The freshman B Team also beat Watertown 56-49. Freshman Blaine Verhey had 15 points.
The Warriors return home for a pair of games this week, hosting Brookings, 2-6, Thursday and Harrisburg, 4-3, Friday. The Brookings Bobcats have 37.25 seed points in AA basketball and the Harrisburg Tigers have 40.826.
Senior Gabe Person said he is looking forward to returning home for a pair of games this week.
“We’re going hard in practice this week,” Person said. “We want to beat Brookings and Harrisburg this week.”
Girls fall to Knights, earn win over Arrows Saturday

The varsity girls basketball team split a pair of games with O’Gorman and Watertown last week.
First, the Warriors fell to the Knights 53-24 Thursday at O’Gorman. Then, they came back to defeat Watertown 70-52 Saturday at WHS.
In the win over the Arrows, senior Samiya Jami had 21 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Peyton Rymerson had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Sydni Schetnen had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Coach Jamie Parish said it was a learning week for the Warriors.
“Last week we had two ball games and we found a few things that we need to work on,” Parish said.
Senior Libby Nachtigal said it was a hard weekend.
“We didn’t execute against O’Gorman,” Nachtigal said. “It was a tough game, but we used it as an opportunity to learn about our team.”
In sub-varsity action, the JV Warriors lost to O’Gorman 66-33 and defeated Watertown 52-33. The sophomore team fell at O’Gorman 43-41 and did not play vs. the Arrows. The freshman A Team fell to the Knights 47-37 and defeated Watertown 48-43.
The Warrior girls will visit Brookings Thursday while the boys are in action at WHS.
