Placing fourth overall, Warrior debate team members saw success at the State Debate and Individual Events Tournament March 1-2 at O’Gorman High School.
At the event, sophomore Riley Nold and junior Trenity Rosenberg made semifinals in policy debate and sophomore Catherine Liu made semifinals in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Nold also took second in Domestic Extemporaneous (Extemp) Speaking and Liu took third in Domestic Extemp.
Nold said he was pleased with the performance.
“It was a tough competition, but hard work paid off,” Nold said. “I was also excited to see Catherine (Liu) place third in domestic extemp and also for her to place in semis for Lincoln Douglas and for me and my partner Trenity (Rosenberg) to make it to semis for policy debate.”
Nold went on to say it was a good season as a whole.
“Overall, it was cool to see our team grow, especially the freshmen,” he said. “I look forward to our team doing even better at state next year!”
Coach Travis Dahle, who was named Coach of the Year in a vote of coaches across the state and honored at the event, said the State Debate and Individual Events Tournament was a success.
“We really performed great, and I’m really excited about the future as only two of our students at state were seniors,” Dahle enthused.
