Nine members of WHS family to retire
Student council luncheon will honor those departing

Nine faculty and staff members who will retire from WHS at the end of the school year will be honored during a special luncheon sponsored by the WHS Student Council during the lunch periods May 23 in the faculty dining room.
The retirees, as recognized at May 22’s HonorFest, include six teachers and three staff members.
Mary Kay Petersen
Cafeteria worker Petersen has worked in the WHS cafeteria for the past seven years and is looking forward to volunteering in her retirement.
Cafeteria worker Selzler has spent the last 14 years at WHS. She is looking forward to spending time with her family in retirement.
English teacher Halgerson has been in the Sioux Falls School District for 17 years and is looking forward to sleeping in and spending time with family.
English teacher Nelson has been in the district for 21 years. Her favorite memory is students retelling stories from their childhoods that connect with “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Special education teacher Rieck has spent 20 of year 22 years teaching at WHS and is looking forward to doing more quilting following retirement.
Zweep has been at WHS for 24 years and is looking forward to sleeping in following retirement.
History teacher Kelley has been in the Sioux Falls School District for 24 years and is looking forward to never grading another essay.
IEP facilitator Edwards has been with the Sioux Falls School District for 26 years. Edwards is looking forward to enjoying life with her family.
Educational assistant Hofer has been with the district for 44 years and is looking to spend time with her family in retirement.
