Warrior Oral Interp Team members won a fourth-consecutive “School of Excellence” honor at the State Oral Interp Festival Friday and Saturday at Aberdeen Central High School.
At the event, junior Maddy Morgan and sophomore Blake Anderson won a Superior with Distinction in the Duet category.
Senior Ashley Sanchez in Non-Original Oratory, junior Reanna Rohrer in Serious Interp, junior Tatiana Chance in Storytelling, freshman Phoebe Wallace in Poetry and Morgan in Humorous all took superior ratings at the festival.
Additionally, WHS’s reader’s theater group took a superior with their piece “(Fake) News at Eleven,” which included members sophomore Martin Kloster, junior Jane Walsh, junior Lainee Mentzer, Anderson, Chance and Sanchez.
Anderson was pleased with the festival.
“It was very exciting to get a clean sweep,” Anderson said. “There were only two Double A schools to get seven superiors in the seven categories and to be the only AA Sioux Falls school to get that honor is very exciting.”
Rohrer was also satisfied.
“I am extremely proud of all the hard work and effort that went towards our performances,” Rohrer said. “It all paid off.”
Next, the team will enter their “second season” of competition, where their goal is to earn a spot at nationals in June in Florida.
